Housing is a Human Right

7”x 9”

2022

Hand carved on linoleum block and hand printed, commissioned as cover art for the February 2022 Los Angeles Catholic Worker Agitator newspaper.

This piece was created in response to the theme of the February 2022 Agitator about the housing shortage in LA and how that affects the folks that the LACW Hippie Kitchen serves, but housing shortages and homelessness, gentrification, and all of the difficulties that come along with owning or renting a home, are challenges across all of the United States that many people face. Approximately 580,000 people are experiencing homelessness in the United States, supposedly one of the richest countries in the world. Everyone deserves and has the right to not only have a roof over their head, but also experience the comfort and stability of having a place of their own to come home to each day.
